Tender ID: 521943
Tender Details
Tender Description
In 2020, Council constructed an ‘End of Trip Facility’ (EOTF) to the rear of the Altona Civic Centre (115 Civic Parade, Altona). The facility is an approx. 382m2 building located in an open reserve, directly to the west of the existing Council fleet vehicle compound. The EOTF features bicycle storage, toilets, change rooms and a function room which are only accessible to Council staff. A BBQ and picnic area is located at the southern end of the EOTF which is accessible to the general public. The open space surrounding the EOTF consists of open grassed areas with some mature trees and a curved soil mound (approx. 85m2) to the south-west of the EOTF building.
A concept design for landscape works to the surrounds of the EOTF building has been developed. The concept design includes an at-grade crossing point from the rear of the Civic Centre building onto a large, paved forecourt featuring new advanced tree planting within a Stratavault soil system. The forecourt will provide a pedestrian link between the Civic Centre and the EOTF and connect to new concrete footpaths along the western side of the building for pedestrian and cycle access to the EOTF and north to Bluegum Drive.
The tender will include two options for the pedestrian crossing. One in concrete and one in decking material. New picnic settings, and rocks and log seats are proposed to be installed around the open space area. A concrete and timber seating wall will also be installed along the eastern edge of the new forecourt. New native grassland planting is proposed to be created in the north-west corner of the open space area. Garden bed planting is also proposed at key locations across the reserve.
The Irrigation design will cover the End of Trip and Civic Centre precinct. The irrigation system will be fed off a new pump, tank and pumpset to increase water pressure to the sports fields whilst watering the EOT and Civic Centre lawns and gardens.
The awarded contractor will oversee the three areas of this project: Landscaping, Civil and irrigation. Coordination with City Green (who will supply and install the strata vault system) is required. They will also need to work in with UMS who have a purchase order to undertake the works for the vehicle access gate that will connect the End of Trip Facility (EOTF) with the vehicle compound and the repairs to the existing planter boxes on the deck at the rear of the Civic Centre. The tree planting will be done by HBCC.
