Three sections without guardrails along the recently completed Kororoit Creek Shared Trail Stage 2-3 have been identified as potentially unsafe for bicycle riders due to risks of bicycles veering off the pathway into the ditch. The fourth section at the north end of the Trail also require guardrail extension to close a gap and prevent an unauthorised public access to the creek. The four identified gaps therefore need to be closed with guardrails to address the hazards.
In addition, the batters at some of the sections described above are being eroded by run-offs. If not promptly addressed, it can cause the base of the pathway to become unstable. Also, there is a low point with on the shared path which permits significant run-off over pathway. The inundation is quite significant, often resulting in debris washing onto the pathway and is prone to undermining its base course, thus requiring adequate drainage solution to avoid collapse..
Hobsons Bay City Council now seeks a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to undertake the execution of the remedial works at Kororoit Creek Shared Trail as detailed in this tender. The scope of works consists of supplying all labour, expertise, supervision, tests, materials and equipment to complete the construction works.
