Provision of Cladding Repair Works on Iron Ore Shed 3 at the Port of Esperance.

⁠⁠⁠This is an Early Tender Advice to prospective bidders for a Tender that will be released shortly to provide Cladding Repairs on Iron Ore Shed 3, located at the Port of Esperance.

A condition assessment of the Shed 3 identified the following problems:

• Corrosion is accelerating in the primary and secondary structures of the shed. If left untreated, corrosion will progress further and become unrepairable within two to five years leading to shutdowns and a decrease in operations.
• Corrosion of the roof sheeting along the lap joints of both the north and south roof pitches.
• Perforations were found to have occurred at a number of these locations which has resulted in localised advanced corrosion of the underlying purlins.
• Corrosion of the fascia purlins as result of water ingress under the eave, particularly along the northern face of the shed, has occurred resulting in significant sectional loss of these components and fixing failure at column connection plates.

The project objective is to extend the operational life of the Shed by a minimum of 5 years.

To achieve this, remediation of the roof structure by means of repair and replacement of roof sheeting, purlins and fascia purlins affected by advanced localised corrosion is required.

The scope of work has three (3) elements that Southern Ports will be looking to award to one (1) Contractor:

• Part A – Replacement of purlins and localised repair of roof sheeting
• Part B – Replacement of facia purlins and localised repair of roof Sheeting
• Part C – Sealing of Roof Sheeting Joints

Once awarded, the targeted completion date is 30 June 2023, however a final date will be agreed with the successful Contractor.

Work will be undertaken under a Construction Contract for Major Works AS4000-1997 Superintendent Administered.
