The Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking a qualified and experienced consultant to develop and deliver a 10 year Recreation and Open Space Strategy to prepare and plan for the Council’s future recreational needs. The plan will assist Council to identify the current assets for both organised and passive recreation, how assets can be maximised through careful management, and how recreation and open spaces in the council area can be activated to ensure high community participation.
This Recreation and Open Space Strategy will assist Rural City of Wangaratta to maximise the impact of recreation and open space in making positive impacts on the health, well-being and quality of life of residents and visitors. It will need to consider emerging trends and issues, and to make recommendations based on best practice and utilising the available data.
Rural City of Wangaratta will engage a consultant to produce a Recreation and Open Space Strategy (2024-2033) by April 2024, with engagement beginning in March 2023. This project requires the appointed consultant to work in conjunction with Council officers deliver a 10 year strategy and direction for recreation and open space in the Rural City of Wangaratta that will drive the direction of Council in terms of development, management and activation of assets.
The four main objectives of the plan are:
- Assessment of our recreation and open space assets, including a strategic approach for existing assets to ensure they are effectively meeting the need of community.
- An understanding of growth and development needs of our community in relation to recreation and open space, including where existing assets are not meeting requirements and alternatives need to be considered.
- A plan for encouraging active recreation and utilisation of existing recreation and open space.
- A prioritised list of projects and deliverables to meet both active recreation and asset development needs.
This contract has an indicitave value of $80,000 ex gst.
The Contract term is open to negotiation, with a minimum expected time of six months, and a maximum expected timeline of twelve months.
Tenderers will include the following:
• Itemised Pricing for the delivery of the Services; and
• Overview of the proposed study including but not limited to, project aims and objectives, project scope, methodology, schedule or timeline and project budget.
Tenderers should make their own assessment of the Services to be provided, and base their tenders accordingly.
