Electrical Safety – Inspection, Testing and Compliance Reporting Services

⁠⁠⁠Previously known as the Melbourne Fire Brigade, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was newly established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria’s Fire Services Reform where MFB merged with part of the CFA. The Fire Rescue Victoria Act 1958 is available on the Victorian Parliament’s Legislation and Bills website.

We serve and protect communities across Melbourne and Victoria’s major regional centres with 85 FRV stations located across the state; 47 fire stations in metropolitan Melbourne and 38 regional stations. Most regional stations are co-located with CFA volunteer brigades.

FRV is seeking tenders for the provision of electrical inspection and compliance services at nominated FRV sites across the State of Victoria to comply with the following obligations:

• Essential Safety Measures maintenance obligations prescribed in the Building Act 1993;
• Occupational Health & Safety Act 1994;
• AS/NZS 3000 Electrical installations (“the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules”);
• AS/NZS 2467:2008: Maintenance of Electrical Switchgear;
• Work Health and Safety (Managing Electrical Risks in the Workplace) Code of Practice 2015;
• Emergency & Exit Lighting;

1. AS 2293.1-2005 standard for system design, installation and operation
2. AS/NZS 2293.2:1995 standard for inspection and maintenance
3. AS 2293.3-2005 standard for emergency escape luminaries and exit signs

• The Contractor will be required to provide and will include but not necessarily limited to the following Services as specified in the RFT specification documentation:
• Switchboard services including integrity testing and thermographic scanning, inclusive of all main switchboards and sub-boards at each nominated FRV site/location.
• Electrical installations testing
• Residual Current Device (RCD) Testing, including testing of all RCDs
• Emergency and exit light testing
