Expression of Interest - External Member Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

⁠⁠⁠Livingstone Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for appointment to the role of external member on the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARaIC).

The Committee meets four (4) times per year and is responsible for providing independent oversight and assurance to Council on financial reporting, internal control framework, risk management, legal and legislative compliance, performance management, and internal and external audit functions.

This is an advisory committee to Council, which reports and provides input on business improvement opportunities, governance processes and strategic matters. The emphasis is on improving performance and transparency within Council.

Remuneration of services is in accordance with the ARaIC Terms of Reference.

Eligibility Requirements
Council is seeking a skilled professional with experience in one or more of the following areas: governance, risk, finance, auditing or management. Members of the committee are also expected to understand the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements appropriate to Council.

Selection Criteria
To be eligible for appointment in this role, a person must, at a minimum, demonstrate their ability to meet the following requirements:

1. Understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the Committee as outlined in the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee Terms of Reference
2. Relevant professional knowledge and experience across financial management & reporting, auditing, information and communication technology, legal and legislative compliance, and risk management
3. Understanding / experience of local government or other public sector entities
4. Communicate effectively and work in partnership with other stakeholders including, but not limited to, officers of Council
5. Current/prior experience on similar committees or board experience
6. Locality
