Tender Description

Warrnambool City Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced companies to carry out the design and construction for the replacement of the Warrnambool Hockey synthetic pitch with a new “sand dressed” synthetic surface to Federation International Hockey (FIH) National Standard.

The overall project aim is to replace and install a new synthetic turf to be in good playing conditions for the next 10-12 years. The current synthetic pitch was installed in 2006 and the replacement of the synthetic pitch aligns with the Active Warrnambool Strategy and Hockey Victoria Strategic Facilities Master Plan 2015-2025.

The lump sum contract is for the design and construct of the replacement synthetic pitch and shock pad and construct as per the specification and design. Provisional items will include, the design and construction for the replacement of existing perimeter fence and reuse of the existing pitch (up to half) to create an additional training/warm up area for players is also required.

The design and construct for the removal and disposal of existing turf in its entirety, design and install including shock pad, civil remediation of existing subbase material, supply and installation shock absorption pad and synthetic turf with all markings to meet Federation in Hockey (FIH) National Standard.

The objectives of the project are as follows:

  • Replacement of “sand dressed” synthetic pitch and shock pad to current FIH National Standards
  • Completed by the end of March 2023, prior to the commencement of the planned 2023 season at the start of April
  • Design meets all current Australian Standards for sport synthetic pitches
  • Cost effective
  • Maximise the available life of the product comparable to a value for money, whole of life comparison including:
  1. Noting initial construction costs
  2. Ongoing maintenance costs
  3. Operational and cleaning costs
  4. Disposal costs
