Tender Description
The RACP is seeking expressions of interest from internal and external stakeholders for support project funding.
The College has administered the Specialist Training Program (STP) since 2011. The Specialist Training Program (STP) seeks to extend vocational training for specialist registrars into settings outside traditional metropolitan teaching hospitals, including regional, rural, remote and private facilities.
STP provides salary support, Rural Support Loading (RSL) and Private Infrastructure & Clinical Supervision (PICS) funding to training sites. In addition, funding is provided to colleges for the delivery of support projects for the purpose of supporting the success and sustainability of delivering training in expanded health care settings.
The RACP will review and assess submissions for Support Project funding and prioritise submissions before they are sent to the Department of Health for review and approval, as required by the Department. Support project(s) must be approved by the Department before the project(s) are started.
Funding is available from 2023 to 2025 and applications will be considered for projects that meet the following criteria:
- Provides support for Trainees in STP post
- Provides support to trainees in rural STP positions
- Provides support to trainees in private STP positions
- Provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainees
- Provides cultural safety training in Indigenous healthcare settings
- Funding is available for 12 months and extension of funding will be considered.
The maximum funds available over 12 months is $200,000 (excluding GST) per support project.
Support Project resources developed may also be of use to the College’s broader training requirements. However, it is important to differentiate between projects that benefit all trainees and those aimed at trainees in STP posts. The Department will not approve STP Support Projects that are clearly supporting all trainees with no specific targeting of trainees in STP posts.
Support Projects will not include:
- Co-funded projects with other Commonwealth grants, unless prior agreement in writing has been given
- Direct payments to supervisors of trainees within the network
- Expenses associated with the direct accreditation of training sites
- IT infrastructure acquisitions and developments,
- Trainee and supervisor workshops and seminars except in the situation where STP trainees/supervisors are targeted to attend through direct support for example travel and accommodation expenses.
- Whole of college activities aimed at cultural and/or behavioural change, excluding projects focussed on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues.
All applicants will be notified via email of the outcome once the Department of Health has completed their assessment.
