Tender Description

Yamba is a beachside town located about 60 km from Grafton in the Clarence Valley Local Government Area. In planning for future growth in the Yamba-Angourie-Wooloweyah locality, an alternative route into Yamba's town centre has been identified as a preferred option to reduce the traffic congestion along Yamba Road that can occur during peak use.

The Yamba Urban Bypass was first proposed in the late-1970s/early-1980s in response to the perceived future growth potential of Yamba. In 1985, the former Maclean Shire Council formally identified the Bypass corridor along the southern side of the Yamba urban area between Oyster Channel and the Yamba CBD in the Maclean Shire Development Control Plan.

A comprehensive feasibility and costing for this alternative route, known as the Yamba Urban Bypass (the Proposed Project), is yet to be undertaken, however environmental assessments for some of the proposed alignment were completed approximately 10 years ago
