Expressions of interest are open for PCHD Fellows to chair the newly established General Paediatrics Accreditation Subcommittee for Advanced Trainees.
The College and the Advanced Training Committee in General Paediatrics ensure that training in Australia and in Aotearoa New Zealand is undertaken in accredited training settings. The accreditation of settings for General Paediatrics is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s Physicians.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the newly established Subcommittee to contribute to both the discussion and decision-making process regarding the Accreditation of settings for the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program.
The Subcommittee seeks to appoint 1 x Paediatrics and Child Health Division Fellow as Chair.
Key responsibilities of the Chair:
- set agenda for matters to be considered by the College Body
- ensure information provided is relevant, accurate, timely and sufficient to keep members appropriately informed of the College and the College Body goals
- ensure communications are accurate and effective
- ensure the College Body as a whole has the opportunity to maintain adequate understanding of the College’s performance and affairs generally and the opportunities and challenges facing the College
- facilitate open and constructive communications amongst members of the College Body and encourage their contribution to deliberations
- oversee and facilitate College Body member evaluation reviews and succession planning
- liaise and interface with secretariat as primary contact between College Body and management
- liaise with and counsel, as appropriate College Body members
Key responsibilities of the Subcommittee:
- schedule adequate reading time for papers before each meeting
- work collaboratively with all accreditation accreditors and leads, relevant education committees within the College and Specialty Societies to ensure the standardisation of accreditation policy and process is upheld
- flexibility and a willingness to support the accreditation of training settings delivering the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program through site visits and videoconferences
- monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending minor program and policy change to the Advanced Training Committees as applicable, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College
- monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending any program and policy change to the College Education Committee (CEC) as the peak educational body of the College, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College for decisions
The Chair is appointed to the Subcommittee for up to two 3-year terms unless appointed as the President of Aotearoa New Zealand, a Division, Faculty or Chapter or otherwise approved by the Board.
Members are required to attend four Subcommittee meetings a year, of which one can be face to face. The College can offer CPD points to assist with attendance at these meetings.
