Tender Description
The Port’s two existing pilot launches are the Tuart and the Freycinet. The primary launch, the Tuart, is an all-weather launch that was delivered in 2006 and has recently undergone an engine replacement due to its previous engine being at the end of its useful life. The Freycinet was delivered in 2011 and provides a backup facility. However, its design has not lived up to the operating demands of the Port as it can only be relied upon in favourable weather conditions.
The Port requires a replacement launch for the Freycinet. A detailed pilot launch performance specification (scope of work) has been developed ready for tender utilising a professional Naval Architect firm (MMD Pty Ltd). The architect engagement included several meetings with key Port of Bunbury stakeholders (including the Harbour Master and Pilots) and the consultant witnessing ship transfers to/from trade vessels visiting the Port of Bunbury.
