Tender Description
Lockyer Valley Regional Council (Council) are sourcing a qualified principal contractor to construct an Amphitheatre at Lake Apex, Gatton. Works will be based on the Construction Issue documentation provided by Aspect Architects and Project Managers.
The Lake Apex Amphitheatre will be a flexible multiuse structure primarily designed to facilitate local community performances. The design also incorporates a shaded seating / picnic area for the community to facilitate a chance for quiet contemplation at all times throughout the year.
A site analysis was undertaken to balance security, environmental, acoustic & flood mitigation requirements. The below were key drivers for the new Amphitheatre:
1. Landscaping to compliment the existing surrounds and a fixed screen of angled durable powder coated aluminium blades is part of the construction. This has been selected to provide protection from both the sun and breezes throughout various times of the year.
2. Concealed roll down screens to facilitate many flexible options for different performance types.
3. The structure and proposed screen are specifically designed to ensure passive visual surveillance.
4. The use of a larger angled roof over the main Amphitheatre deliberately channels any noise produced up the hill and towards the adjacent bushland, in the opposite direction to the northern residential houses.
5. The proposed Amphitheatre position is mainly within the least severe flood mapping overlay.
