West Coast Council has identified a portion of the Trail Harbour Road infrastructure nearing end of life and requiring repairs and renewal.
The Trial Harbour Road is a sealed road which services various mines and access tracks along it's length. The seal on the road is near of life and suffering major surface defects and one major structural issue (gradual slip of fill embankment). It is important that the seal is renewed, and defects addressed to prevent further deterioration and further increased costs of renewal/rectification.
As outlined below tender is being offered as a single project comprising of the requirements:
The road requires a fresh double bitumen seal coat following on from asphalt patching of failures and preparation works of the road formation edges. As many guide-posts are missing, damaged or aged, new guideposts are to be installed for the length of new seal.
A geotechnical investigation of a large crack in the road and slumped safety barrier revealed a portion of the road constructed on unconsolidated fill along a cut/fill line. A culvert crossing this area has sheared as result of settlement along this cut/fill line, resulting is stormwater ingress to the fill material, causing further slippage of the formation. The road alignment will be required to be shifted off the fill area, along with stormwater modifications to suit.
