Tender Description

ABOUT THE TENDERER

The University of Adelaide, established in 1874, has over 25,000 students and 3,500 staff and researchers. The University has a strong reputation internationally as a leading research and teaching institution. For more information regarding the University please visit the website .

ABOUT THE TENDER

The Information Technology and Digital Services (ITDS) branch is the custodian of major core systems across the University covering Student Administration, Learning and Teaching, and Research Services for both staff and students.

In early 2019, ITDS developed a University of Adelaide (UofA) Cyber Security and Digital Identity Management Roadmap setting out the strategic direction to realise mature cybersecurity and identity management capabilities to support and enable the strategies of the University and ITDS. The roadmap identified a number of key initiatives to secure endpoints in order to protect University and non-University endpoints from malicious attacks. This Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to build on foundational endpoint security initiatives in the Cyber Security and Digital Identity Management Roadmap.

The University seeks to engage a Supplier to develop an End User Device Management Strategy and Roadmap enabling ITDS to implement a "zero trust" approach to endpoint devices so that:

(a) Endpoint devices are untrusted by default,
(b) Only trusted devices are granted access to network and data at a level commensurate with the level of trust and untrusted devices are only granted minimal access (e.g., just internet access), and
(c) The University achieves a good balance between security, cost-saving and user productivity by combining managed and unmanaged endpoints.

The following is to be addressed:

1. Usability and presentation layer principles,
2. Policies, processes and technologies,
3. Foundational work and approach required to implement a Mobile Device Management (MDM) Platform to manage endpoint devices, and
4. Initiatives and required sequence to reach the end goal.
