“We are seeing incredible tourist numbers in the Top of the Yorke and across the Yorke Peninsula, which presents an exciting opportunity to invest in and grow tourism in our region,” Ms Wauchope said. “To maximise that opportunity, we need to meet the expectations of tourists and present our region and its assets in the best way possible, all year round.
“This means improved public amenities, essential services like power and water, as well as tourist offerings such as camp kitchens.”
The EOI highlights Council’spreference for a combination of 4-star cabins and eco cabinsor tents in proposedmasterplan designs.Given the increased need for quality tourism facilities in the region, Council will look favourably on negotiated terms that allow an accelerated progression of an accepted masterplan. “Of course, we understand there are locals calling the Bayside Caravan Park home, and any proposals to redevelop the site will be required to accommodatea small number of permanent and annual site holders,” Ms Wauchopesaid.
“Weare excited to be starting this process and look forward to working with our chosen partner to develop an accommodation destination for the benefit of the wider Top of the Yorke region.”The Port Broughton Tourist Park will continue to maintain and operate Bayside Caravan Park until the EOI process is complete. The process will be handled by Murray Fielder, Caravan Park Broker, and run from 8 July 2022 until 19 August 2022.
