Mineral Resources Tasmania - Mornington Core Library

⁠⁠⁠We would like commission artwork inspired by Tasmania’s geology and mineral resources for Mineral Resources Tasmania to promote its role as a provider of Tasmanian geoscientific information.

MRT's new core library, rock store and laboratory complex in Mornington houses a reference archive of drill core, drill cuttings and rock samples as a resource for scientists and industry.

As a first step, we invite Tasmanian artists to develop concepts for a low-relief wall-based artwork located inside the entry foyer. MRT can make some of its geoscientific materials available to inform or use in the artwork.

You can visit the core library to view the proposed artwork location and a sample of geoscientific materials at 11am on Friday 25 July 2022. The visit is limited to 10 people.
