* In March 2021 Springfield City Group (SCG) presented to Council an Ipswich Gateway Urban Street Tree Lighting Strategy Proposal (Greater Springfield Entry), attached to Tender package. The strategy involves enhancing the amenity and sense of arrival along the key strategic major road network serving the south eastern entrance into the City of Ipswich. The proposal involves the lighting of the street trees (Figs) along Sinnathamby Boulevard and Augusta Parkway. These two gateway roads are annually in the top 5 busiest roads in Ipswich City with an excess of 23,000 vehicle trips per day according to traffic count data.
* The Augusta Parkway Street Tree Lighting Program - Stage 1 Trial involves installing bud accent lighting to the trunk and main limbs of every second fig street tree growing in the central traffic median along Augusta Parkway from the intersection of Eden Station Drive through to Tournament Drive and including the Tournament Drive Roundabout. This involves installation of bud lighting on approximately 12 established fig street trees and 4 trees in the Tournament Drive roundabout. The lighting would be hardwired into the power source associated with the existing street lighting system in the traffic median.
* Stage 1 Trial is being implemented collaboratively between SCG and Council. Council shall be responsible for the delivery of project work up to and including practical completion with SCG taking over maintenance requirements post completion of works.
