Request for Proposal: Macalister Avon Irrigation Development Project

Southern Rural Water (SRW) has entered a joint funding arrangement with the State to support work to further investigate the potential to develop irrigated agriculture in two Gippsland areas: the Macalister Avon Irrigation Development Project and the Latrobe Irrigation Development Assessment.

This Request for Proposal (RFP) covers the Macalister Avon Irrigation Development Project, located 16 km north of Sale and borders the Macalister Irrigation District (MID).

This project builds on three previous, and more broadly scoped studies, and its purpose is to advance the project scope and costing to a level that supports a sound investment decision. It provides the technical and factual information to inform future discussions. The scope is for the Consultant to undertake studies covering:
- Water Resources
- Flow recovery
- Functional Design
- Environmental and Planning
- Macalister Irrigation District water and service impacts
- Economics
- Initial exploration of non-infrastructure based development

The exploration of this opportunity is guided by a set of principles to ensure decision making is sound, equitable and protects existing users including the environment and cultural water. Within this we are seeking quadruple bottom line outcomes.

This is a multi-disciplinary project and as such SRW recognises that consultancies may want to pursue a consortium response. We encourage consortiums to tender for this work and will not be disadvantaged through the assessment process in any way.
