⁠⁠⁠Purpose of the role

The Digital Identity Communication section is a small, energetic and highly skilled team responsible to drive the Digital Identity program’s strategic communication agenda.

The Digital Communication team needs experienced and enthusiastic Communications / Media Managers to start working immediately to promote and build awareness of the program.

This role would suit a candidate who has experience in:

• managing and coordinating communications and media strategies and campaigns
• delivering against key strategic objectives
• supporting engagement and communication activities across a program of work with various key stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with a proactive, positive attitude and approach to teamwork and collaboration as well as a working independently, demonstrating your own initiative and ability to adapt to change.

About the role

This role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of internal and external communication and media strategies, services and subject matter expert advice to support the programs, initiatives and events.

The positions will increase the team’s communications and media capacity and enhance the Digital Identity’s brand and reputation. They will:

• promote the program to public and stakeholders including across federal and state governments as well as private sector
• support the accreditation and onboarding of new services to the System
• help the Digital Identity program to meet its strategic communications objectives.

Roles specific tasks/ responsibilities

As the Communications / Media Manager, you will report to the Director Communication and focus on:
• Developing and implementing communication and media strategies.
• Managing media incl. proactive and reactive responses.
• Cultivating relationships internally and externally with industry professionals, key stakeholders and the DTA Executive.
• Working closely with Communication teams across the APS to ensure alignment with program communication/marketing or media objectives.
• Contributing to a range of high-level written material including executive engagement material, briefings, and other content.
• Identifying and analysing industry and marketing trends.
• Managing and refining communication processes across System partners.
• Developing content and managing online channels including social media and web.
• Monitoring communications KPIs.


Qualifications/ experience

• University degree in communications or related field, or at least 3 years work experience in communication and engagement type work. (Mandatory)
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing complex communication and media strategies.
• Broad industry experience and knowledge in a communications role within a large corporate complex environment.
• Experience using content managements systems (Drupal/GOVCMS) and writing for digital platforms.
• Proven capability to develop audience targeted messages and communication materials.
• High-level agile delivery capability according to agreed timelines, with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple competing priorities.
• Experience working in a large team and co-ordinating within and across teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically
• Strong attention to detail.
• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or similar are highly desired.
