The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has a requirement for multiple ICT Project Managers to manage the delivery of inflight and upcoming FY22/23 projects within the Digital Services Division (DSD). Opportunities exist within the department’s corporate applications (such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Electronic Document Management System), infrastructure including cloud hosting and migration, cybersecurity, data & analytics, and more.

DSD is responsible for the management and delivery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) functions and activities across Australia and overseas for the department. The division provides a secure, modern ICT environment so that the department can conduct its business 24/7 and focus on achieving departmental outcomes. DSD staff work collaboratively across the department, taking advantage of advances in technology, to deliver end-to-end services and solutions that are nationally consistent and deliver organisational and business benefits.

The successful candidates will:

• Manage the delivery of departmental project(s) following the department’s project management methodologies (such as Prince2, Agile, SAFe, hybrid).
• Provide guidance and leadership to a multi-disciplinary project team, 3rd party vendors, and/or other departmental teams to deliver projects.
• Undertake project governance, including, but not limited to:
o project initiation and closure,
o scope, schedule and delivery timeframe management,
o reporting and presenting to Senior Executives, Program/Project Boards, and other governance bodies,
o budget and financial management and reporting, and
o active management of risks and issues.
• Provide delivery capability across the broader programs of work as directed by the department and/or the DSD Project Management Office.

Candidates will require skills and experience in:

• Successful management and delivery of ICT related projects and/or large corporate ICT transformation programs.
• Ability to adapt to and work across various delivery methodologies (such as waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
• Managing technical teams and partnering with multiple vendors to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes.
• Preparing and presenting reports, artefacts, and documentation for Project Boards, Senior Executives, and other governance bodies.
• High level interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present and communicate information and expectations to stakeholders at all levels.
• Personal resilience and flexibility to deal with ambiguity and conflicting priorities to successfully deliver under pressure within a challenging environment.

Positions are based in our Canberra offices. Depending on project requirements, remote working may be considered. Should remote working be approved, there may be a requirement to travel to Canberra on occasion.
