2022 Starry Sari – Taste of South Asia in The South West Curry Competition - Expressions of Interest

⁠⁠⁠BACKGROUND

Starry Sari Nights is set to be Southwest Sydney’s premier cultural festival, putting Liverpool firmly in the spotlight over three dynamic days.
A focus of the event is showcasing the great things to taste in the Liverpool Local Government Area with the aim of building a stronger visitor economy by encouraging people across Greater Sydney to come to Liverpool to sample the offerings and ensuring economic benefits outside of the three-day festival.

The campaign will showcase all businesses with South Asian or fusion/ influenced menu dishes and will allow residents and visitors to submit their favourite restaurant and dish on Council’s website. Eligible businesses across the Local Government Area will be provided with collateral to advertise the competition and encourage their customers to vote.

The business and dish with the most public votes will be crowned as ‘the best South Asian dish in Liverpool’ and awarded a plaque for their business after 22 May 2022.

The competition will run 9 May 2022 to 22 May 2022.

KEY FACTS

• Starry Sari Night will be held from 5pm – 10pm from 20 to 22 May 2022, in George Street & Surrounding Laneways, Liverpool CBD
• Starry Sari Nights will transform the streets into a bustling streetscape with markets, entertainment, workshops, and pop-up bars
• The event’s capacity will be approximately 7,000 per day
• Key audience will be families, young adults (15-35 years old), broad catchment of Liverpool and South-West Sydney communities wanting to immerse themselves within the South Asian culture
• Event entry is free and entry to the showcase is free of charge
