David Fleay Wildlife Park Nocturnal House Redevelopment - Design

⁠⁠⁠Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service are seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Architect, as the Principal Contractor, to complete the schematic design phase including site analysis, geotechnical testing and design documentation. Experience within the zoological industry will be considered as highly regarded to ensure wildlife standards, codes and welfare requirements (widlife, staff and visitors) are primary to design.

• meet minimum standards for exhibiting wildlife in Queensland while providing flexibility in terms of wildlife that can be exhibited within each individual enclosure;
• provide a safe, functional facility for wildlife, staff and visitors;
• enhance safe accessibility in terms of delivering daily husbandry;
• incorporate back of house space and facilities to meet associated wildlife care requirements;
• deliver an immersive visitor experience from entry to exit;
• optimise visitor viewing opportunities, including when wildlife are inactive;
• maximise facility efficiencies through sustainable practices aiding operational costs;
• capitalise on today’s technologies to enhance wildlife welfare, staff duties and visitor experiences;
• minimise maintenance requirements; and
• be reflective of the Park’s natural environment and design character.
