The Aotearoa NZ AFOEM Committee is seeking expressions of interest from AFOEM Fellows residing in Aotearoa NZ to apply for the position of Chair, commencing November 2023.
Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee
The AoNZ AFOEM Committee aims to support the professional careers of Fellows and trainees of the Division in Aotearoa NZ.
The Committee works with appropriate College Bodies, specialty societies and staff in relation to medical education, policy and advocacy, Fellowship, and medical workforce, to promote and support the practice of AFOEM in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.
The Chair role becomes vacant in November 2023 with the completion of term/retirement from the Committee with thanks to Dr Geraint Emrys.

Takohanga | Responsibilities
The Committee meet up to 4 times a year, of which 1 may be kanohi ki te kanohi | face-to-face in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington. Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy (PDF). The remainder of the meetings, up to 3 would be via hui-ā-ataata | Zoom.
As Aotearoa NZ AFOEM Chair, the incumbent would also be appointed to the AFOEM Council and the Aotearoa NZ Committee.
Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and experience criteria
- Be an AFOEM Fellow, who resides in Aotearoa NZ.
- High level communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships.
- Computer literate with access to a computer.
- Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately and diligently for participation in AFOEM activities.
