West Angelas Alternative Landform Design Modelling Project
Tender ID: 488040
Tender Details
Tender Description
Rio Tinto is seeking consultancy services to identify three alternative closure landform designs, develop conceptual level designs of each and conduct landform evolution modelling to inform selection of a future landform rehabilitation trial at West Angelas.
The focus of the project is on three waste dumps:
• A-West dump at Deposit A – planned for construction in Q3 2023;
• East dump at Deposit B – active with planned completion in 2022 (i.e. retro-fit design required);
• West dump at Deposit F – bottom benches are existing, active, 60m (3 lifts) still to be constructed.
The West Angelas waste dump closure strategy needs to address the following key closure risks:
• Long term erosion potential (majority of waste rock is highly erodible);
• Availability of low erodibility competent mineral waste to utilises as capping material given other closure requirements for this material type; and
• Ease of construction of landforms and / or subsequent re-shaping to achieve design requirements.
