Data Architect / Solution Designer

⁠⁠⁠This position underpins the continuous design, development and operation of the Army Data Warehouse (ADW) on premise and developing cloud solutions. The position includes the solution requirements development, design and development including data integration architectures, and security architectures based on Army’s available technology solutions and projects. This also includes providing technical design advice to the Army Data Hub (organisation and projects) for on premises and cloud options, supporting the Data Engineer and Business Analytics functions.

Key tasks include:

a. Lead and/or support data design of solutions for large and small projects through translating ADH tools and capabilities into business requirements and data models.
b. Work as part of the Operations and Development teams to shaping the delivery of projects and maturation of the Army Data Hub
c. Support ADH leadership and technical team with strategic planning and mapping strategic plan to implementation plan.
d. Define the principles, guidelines, standards and architecture patterns to ensure alignment with the most likely enterprise future-state.
e. Identify bugs, inefficiencies and vulnerabilities within the ADW and the Army Data Analytics Platform (ADAP).
f. Lead and support outcomes that ensure solutions are complete, operable, conform to business processes, and meet the business needs with the agreed quality of service
g. Drive project knowledge back to the enterprise data model and ensure that it evolves correctly
h. Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence
i. Provide mentoring and coaching for identified individuals to improve Army’s technical knowledge and Army Data Hub operations
j. Where capacity allows, the role may also support defined analytics projects e.g. solution identification and designs for adhoc or non-standard project requests.
k. Ability to identify, evaluate and advocate for data related technological trends suitable for the ADH

Areas of Expertise. The Data Architect / Solution Designer must have extensive data warehouse architecture, solution design and/or database programming experience. They will have deep knowledge of analytical concepts, including complex data structures, data-warehousing, analytical models, optimisation techniques, and data mining. Preferably candidates should have experience in migrating from ‘on premises’ solutions to cloud solutions.
