Greater Western Water (GWW) intends to release a Request for Tender in late April 2022 for the Design and Construction of Romsey Water Treatment Plant upgrade located at Romsey Victoria.

The EOI will form the first part of a two-stage procurement process from which GWW will shortlist suitable service providers for the purpose of inviting tender for the Design and Construction of Romsey Water Treatment Plant.

The Scope of Works to be executed under this project will be broadly described in the upcoming tender documents. Below is a brief description of the scope of works.

The new treatment facilities will replace existing treatment facilities after the new treatment facilities are commissioned and operational. The contract for the works is a design and construction contract. The ultimate capacity of the treatment train will be 7.5 ML/d.

The augmentation works include,
1. Water treatment train
− Potassium permanganate dosing system, sodium carbonate dosing system and potassium permanganate reaction tank
− PAC dosing system and PAC reaction tank
− Coagulant dosing system and coagulant reaction tank
− Polymer dosing system and flocculation tank
− DAFF including compressed air and blower system
− Backwash tank, backwash recovery tank and dilute sludge tank
− Filtered water pumps
− UV system
− Chlorine dosing system
2. New Building to allow for the ultimate capacity, 3 x 2.5 ML/d DAFF units
3. Roadworks and drainage
4. Power supply, electrical and control
− New power supply
− Motor Control Centre
− Connection of old sub board
5. Commissioning
6. Repurposing existing water filtration plant

The Romsey Water Filtration Plant is a continuous operating plant and will continue to operate continuously throughout the contract.

It is anticipated that following the EOI in late April 2022, shortlisted service providers will be notified in May/June 2022 and invited to tender for projects or a package or works in June 2022.

The Local Jobs First Policy and Victorian Social Procurement Framework are Victorian Government policies that will be applied to this tender.
