Enhancement of current analytics capability/platform (PowerBi)

⁠⁠⁠IP Australia are Developing a standard reporting/dashboard framework to be used by our data developers, best practice guidelines on structuring data and improving our analytics capability (PowerBI).

Background

•Data pipelines have been developed from source systems into AWS, AWS provides data consumption views which are then available for PBI reporting.
• Data transformations in AWS create the data elements for reporting.
•Real time reporting not required, but on-demand updates when a user opens the dashboard are required
•Reducing the risk of report developers sharing data with the wrong users when publishing dashboards through the reuse of the data access controls established in AWS (using AD).

Deliverables

•Designs for data preparation and data structures used in a direct connect method to support efficient PowerBI dashboards, based on prepared data in AWS S3 storage.
•Designs for data preparation and data structures to be used in an import method to support efficient PowerBI dashboards.
•Developing PowerBI templates that provide standard layouts for effect visual storytelling for internal and external reports.
•Best practice designs for the use of data facts and dimensions within PowerBI, including data models for consumption within PowerBI.
•Documentation - use and continuous improvement of templates and data designs.
•Knowledge transfer.
