⁠⁠⁠The Aotearoa NZ Paediatric and Child Health Division Committee (AoNZ PCHD) seeks a RACP Fellow or non-member, who identifies as Māori, who can support equity and improved Māori outcomes.

Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee

The AoNZ PCHD Committee aims to support paediatric and child health specialists in consultation with trainees, by advocating on their behalf for health reform, workforce issues and other issues relevant to the health sector in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Takohanga | Responsibilities

The Committee meet up to 4 times a year, with 1 kanohi ki te kanohi | face to face meeting in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington. Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF). The remainder of meetings are hui-ā-ataata | via Zoom.

Most of the mahi will occur during scheduled hui. There is likely to be up to 2 hours of pre-reading required before kanohi ki te kanohi hui, and 1 hour prior to hui-ā-ataata | zoom. Members may be asked to respond to communication out-of-session.

Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and experience criteria

  • Previous experience and demonstrated expertise with mātai arotamariki | paediatrics.
  • Understanding the legislative framework, complexity of medical practice and health systems relevant to the AoNZ health sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate a mātauranga Māori perspective, to impact current systems and structures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and equity and to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards in relation to the role.
  • High level communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships.
  • Computer literate with access to a computer.
  • Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately and diligently for participation in College activities.
  • No previous or current professional or personal connections that may give cause for a perceived or actual conflict of interest with the NZ PCHDC and / or the College.
