Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, the MoH has taken an active -central- role in resolving supply shortages nationally, PPE in particular, for the wider Health & Disability sector as well as other NZ Government led COVID-19 response activities, such as for example Managed Isolation & Quarantine (MIQ).
As a result of this, the MoH has procured large volumes of PPE and a range of critical supplies of medical equipment and consumables from overseas, which have driven a significant requirement for Warehousing & Distribution services to process inbound consignments, storage of inventories, order pick, pack and dispatch activities, including the distribution of consignments to MoH approved customers nationwide.
The COVID-19 pandemic response has highlighted the ongoing need for centralized, consolidated management of the MoH’s COVID-19 response stocks (PPE, Ventilators & Respiratory equipment, vaccination supplies), National Reserve Stocks, and specific Critical Medical Supplies.
This ROI process is aimed at selecting suitably qualified service provider(s) to support the MoH in future, beyond the initial response arrangements which were established under urgency.
