Tender Description
Star of the South is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from companies with capability and capacity to:
Supply offshore geotechnical services to survey the Star of the South Project area off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria, including vessel supply, lab testing and reporting. The geotechnical investigation required is approximately 10 to 30km off the coast in
approximately 10 to 50m water depth.
About Star of the South
Star of the South is Australia’s first offshore wind project, proposed to be located off the coast of Gippsland in Victoria. It would harness strong Bass Strait winds to power Victorian homes and create a new industry with local jobs. The project involves up to 200 turbines in the sea, generating electricity from offshore wind and connecting via underground cables to the Latrobe Valley. Star of the South has been in development for several years and is in the feasibility phase with environmental assessments underway to support planning and approvals.
Package Description
Below is a high-level summary of the preliminary geotechnical service requirements:
• Supply vessel to complete soil sampling and in-situ testing with maximum depth of 70m below seafloor.
• Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental laboratory testing, undertaken by organisations with applicable NATA accreditation.
• Assistance with obtaining permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
