Expressions of Interest – Burnie Christmas Parade

⁠⁠⁠The Burnie City Council recently changed its events model to enable us to partner and fund organisations and groups to deliver events for the City. Council will soon be releasing its Community Grants Program that will provide opportunities for events to be delivered in this way for the 2022-23 year.

From time to time during 2021-22 there will be a need to seek partnerships to enable some events to continue this financial year. This is one of those occasions. The Burnie Christmas Parade is a traditional event valued by our community. It was not held last year on account of COVID. While the COVID challenges still remain, Council has decided that if there is an interested partner, and the COVID situation allows, we would like to conduct the Christmas Parade in 2021. We are therefore seeking urgent Expressions of Interest to deliver this event.

Under the new arrangements, Council would support the event through the provision of funding. Council is aware however that there is a short lead time for this year’s event, and therefore Council officers will provide support and assistance to any interested party to enable an event to occur this year.
