Tender Description

Council is seeking expressions of interest from local artists and creative community members keen to deliver a public art mural project for a community or township within Baw Baw Shire.

Through the Public Art Program, Council has a $20,000 grant available to support the commissioning of a mural project. The mural is to be publicly displayed within a publicly-owned Council space, or on private land having sought appropriate permission.

As part of the funding criteria, the project is to be completed within the 2021/22 financial year.

Interested community members and groups wishing to make a submission are invited to complete and submit the Expression of Interest (EOI) form available on Council’s website.

As part of the criteria process, EOI submissions are to include the following information:

  • A concept sketch of the artwork.
  • The proposed location.
  • The proposed artist to complete the work.
  • The vision of the mural and how it ties into the location.
  • Estimated timelines for completion.

All submissions will be assessed by Council’s Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, who will select the winning submission.

Public art plays a valuable role in building community pride and enhancing the cultural identity within the Shire. Through the Public Art Program, Council seeks to further build creative partnerships with the arts community and develop vibrant public spaces within Baw Baw for residents and visitors to enjoy.
