Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports.
PN owns and maintains the Cairns Marina Point and Marlin Marina precinct. Within this precinct there is an existing electrical high-voltage sub-station and low-voltage distribution boards that service the area. As the existing transformer is nearing the end of its service life PN is seeking to replace the existing 500kVa transformer with a new 500kVa transformer. The Contractor will be responsible for the procurement of the new transformer for the project. As part of this work PN is taking the opportunity to replace and re-arrange existing low-voltage switchboards including Main Switch Boards, Main Distribution Boards, and other smaller distribution boards.
It will be necessary to remove and reinstate the existing roof structure in order to replace the transformer.
Associated building works include the removal and reconstruction of transformer plinths, installation of raised flooring and construction of a new separation wall.
These works will impact existing tenants and marina operations. Carefull planning and staging of the works will be vital to the successful delivery of this project.
PN requests Tender Submissions from suitably qualified and available Contractors with appropriate experience in high-voltage and low-voltage electrical works along with the associated building works to deliver this project in a challenging operational environment.
