Tender Description

Cibo Labs is a tool that can improve the understanding of available pasture biomass and land condition on a property. This enables you to make better informed decisions about your grazing management and stocking rate.

Rangelands NRM is supporting 10 pastoral businesses to have access to Cibo Labs for a year, as part of the Smart Farms Round 4 Grant, ‘Revitalising the Southern Rangelands and the pastoral industry through advanced and refined grazing management’.

We are currently looking for expressions of interest from pastoralists in the Southern Rangelands who are keen to join us on this journey!

Who’s involved?

The program is supported by Rangelands NRM and our project partners, Hillview Station, Murdoch University and Cibo Labs, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Phil Tickle, Managing Director of Cibo Labs, will guide us through how it all works.

What’s involved?

A workshop (over one day) will be held in Meekatharra, (date to be confirmed), with Phil Tickle, to get participants informed about Cibo Labs and its processes. Participants in the Cibo Labs program are required to undertake pasture assessments, to help calibrate satellite data and gain accurate records for the Southern Rangelands region. This will involve both pasture cuts and visual assessments (when you have got your eye in!), using a user-friendly mobile app. The assessments can be done offline, out in the field.

How much time will it take?

The time taken to do pasture assessments will vary, depending on how accurate you want your data to be.

What’s the cost?

Participation in the workshop is free and workshop participants will have no cost for accessing Cibo Lab data for a year. If participants choose to access the data beyond this, an annual subscription fee will need to be paid to Cibo Labs. Workshop participants will need to cover their own travel to Meekatharra and accommodation expenses.

If you are interested in finding out more, or would like to participate in the program, please contact Sarah Jeffery at Rangelands NRM (Ph: 0427 626 222 / Email: sarahj@rangelandswa.com.au) by Tuesday 28th September 2021.
