Design and Construction of a Replacement Bridge at Boston St, Boggabri

⁠⁠⁠This tender is for Contract No. 2021/22/06 for the design and construction of Boston Street bridge replacement in the Narrabri Shire Council (NSC) local government area. The existing single lane bridge consists three (3) spans with the two (2) end spans constructed of timber headstocks, planks and decking boards. The centre span consists of a Steele truss (named after Clive Steele). The bridge substructure consists of one (1) timber pier and two (2) concrete piers, each with pile cap and two (2) concrete columns. The bridge has been in service since 1952.

The scope of works includes:

• Recovery of Steele truss bridge and delivery to the Council's Boggabri quarry,
• Demolition and removal from site of the remaining bridge and abutments,
• Design and construction of replacement steel reinforced concrete bridge,
• Design and construction of first twenty (20) metres of approach pavement from each abutment headwall,
• Provision of all environmental, safety, quality and traffic management as per the requirements of the contract, and
• Compliance with all permit and licence conditions.

The general requirements for the new replacement bridge are as follows:

• Two lane steel reinforced concrete bridge. Bridge design shall comply with AS5100, SM1600 loading and will be capable of carrying AB Triple freight efficient vehicles with NSW Higher Mass Limits,
• Provision of concrete footpath access and handrail to abutments for maintenance and inspection of bearing pads, and
• Provision of thrie beam safety barrier system, inclusive of thrie beam to w-beam transition sections.

This is a Quality Assured Contract with method of payment being by Lump Sum. The General Conditions of Contract shall be AS 4902.2000, as amended in Part E of that document.

The Principal shall undertake design and construction of the bridge approaches.
The Contract is to be completed within thirty (30) weeks of the acceptance of the tender.
