Tender ID: 466433
Tender Details
Tender Description
Rail Projects Victoria and the Rail Infrastructure Alliance are seeking Expressions of Interest from Victorian First Nations artists to develop 2 permanent public artworks in South Yarra and Sunbury.
Contemporary Melbourne sits on the ancient lands of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of Melbourne and its surrounding country. First Peoples from across Australia also call contemporary Melbourne home. We acknowledge the strong and enduring connections with country, waterways, community, and culture of the Kulin Nation peoples and First Peoples across the country.
The Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung are the Registered Aboriginal Party for the land on which the new artworks will stand. Artists responses to these creative opportunities must be respectful to the cultural values of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
The expression of culture through public art offers First Nations artists the opportunity to share cultural knowledge, inspire through creativity, and celebrate connections to country which have existed for tens of thousands of years. As Melbourne transforms and changes, through projects like the Metro Tunnel and the Gap Road Level Crossing Removal, public art can serve as a vital and vibrant marker acknowledging culture and connection within the urban landscape.
