Carpentaria Shire Council invites tenders from suitably qualified tenderers for the upgrade of the existing concrete floodway at the overflow of Magnificent Creek on Dunbar Kowanyama Road, which is described in more detail in Part 5 – Scope. Practical completion of the project must be reached by the end of 2021 in line with the current funding agreement. As a result, tenderers have the option to construct cast insitu or precast box culverts, whichever will allow this deadline to be reached.
The existing floodway is located approximately 348km from Normanton and 12km from Kowanyama. The crossing through the overflow of Magnificent Creek is currently a low level concrete floodway which is to be removed and replaced with concrete box culverts and a concrete running surface to improve flood immunity and safety of the crossing.
