  • Expressions of interest are open to Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) Trainees to represent on the AFOEM Policy & Advocacy Committee (PAC).

Description
The AFOEM PAC is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of the policy and advocacy interests and activities of the Faculty. The Committee reports to the AFOEM Council and College Policy and Advocacy Committee (CPAC).

Key responsibilities

  • Attending AFOEM PAC meetings.
  • Assisting the AFOEM PAC Chair in determining Committee priorities and annual work plan for approval by AFOEM Council.
  • Assisting in developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the activity of the AFOEM PAC work plan.
  • Assisting the Chair in responding to new and emerging policy and advocacy issues relevant to the AFOEM as they arise.
  • Acting as an authoritative source of direction and advice within the College in regard to occupational and environmental policy and advocacy issues.
  • Assisting in developing, reviewing and updating position statements of the AFOEM and developing submissions.
  • Ensuring timely responses to requests for comment or consultation from the RACP Policy and Advocacy Unit and CPAC.
  • Advocating on behalf of AFOEM trainees.
  • Adhering to the RACP’s policies relating to roles and responsibilities, prevention of discrimination and harassment, code of conduct and conflict of interest.

Essential attributes

  • Be a registered Advanced Trainee of the AFOEM.
  • Be fully conversant with the College’s Constitution, College Strategic Plan, AFOEM By-laws and AFOEM Work Plan.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the occupational and environmental policy environment.
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in working in a team and valuing all members.
  • Attitudes of cooperation and positivity and high standards of ethical behaviours.
  • Commitment to quality assurance and continuous development.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills.
