HOME 2022 - Expression of Interest

⁠⁠⁠HOME 2022 is an exhibition exploring the journeys and experiences of artists with a refugee background or those seeking asylum. Opening in 2022, HOME will be the second exhibition at the new contemporary art gallery opening in Dandenong.

Inspired by the previous HOME exhibitions at Walker Street Gallery, Dandenong, the annual HOME exhibition will be expanded and further developed to offer a broader look at the experiences faced by refugees and those seeking asylum, both contemporary and historical. HOME 2022 will be a group exhibition with participating artists from across Australia and internationally. HOME will include diverse media such as painting, photography, installation and video works.

The theme for HOME 2022 is language, text and gesture.

Expressions of interest are being sought from emerging artists who have recently arrived in Australia as refugees or people seeking asylum to participate in HOME 2022, alongside other emerging and established artists. HOME aims to recognise and nurture the talents of artists who are establishing a new life in Australia and provide opportunities to develop professional pathways in the creative arts sector in Australia.

Two artists will be chosen through the expressions of interest process and commissioned to make new works for the exhibition.

Artists chosen through the EOI process will receive an artist fee of $2000 as well as professional development opportunities including mentorships and residency (for Melbourne artists only) opportunities and support in the creation of new work.

Applications must include:

• Completed online application form (see below)
• Artist resume
• Images that provide examples of the artist’s previous artwork. A maximum of 6 artworks and should include 1 - 2 images of each work
• Artist statement
