With the need for social distancing and isolating at home due to the COVID-19 health emergency, pressures on individuals, families and their home environments have increased. This means it‘s important for people with disability, their families and their carers to take a break for the sake of their wellbeing, noting that many of the regular supports that provide a respite effect may not be available or easy to access.

The Respite Effect and Recovery Grants (the Grants) provide financial support, as a one-off payment separate to the NDIS, to people with disability and their carers aimed at reducing the impact of COVID-19 and assisting community recovery.
