Busking
We offering busking opportunities for musicians, performance artists, singers, dance groups, circus groups, magicians and other street performers.
Current opportunity
Over 9 weeks from 24 April to 30 June 2021, the open space outside Leo's Supermarket in Heidelberg will be transformed into a vibrant pop-up park with live performances and workshops. This is one of the many community activation initiatives in our Heidelberg Structure Plan.
Buskers will be selected through an expression of interest (EOI) process to perform at the park.
All busking fees will be waived, and you will not need a busking permit if successful. You are welcome to accept public donations, but we will not be paying performance fees.
Important dates
EOIs close at midnight on Sunday, 2 May 2021.
Notification to buskers will be sent on Wednesday, 5 May 2021.
Successful buskers will be notified of their performance slots throughout May and June 2021.
Criteria EOI submission
EOIs will be reviewed by officers from our Arts & Culture and Leisure & Sport teams.
Buskers will be selected based on how well they address:
- performance merit, and examples provided
- appropriateness for a pop-up park context
- presentation and quality from images and links to videos provided
- ability to engage and garner the attention of a diverse audience
- how much amplification is required for their performance
- unique and distinctive talent.
If you are selected
You will be contacted by the Arts & Culture team about performance dates and times.
We welcome EOIs from anyone, but a parental consent form(PDF, 63KB) must be completed if under age 16.
Selected buskers:
- can perform solo, as duo or as a trio
- will be asked to nominate preferred dates and availability during the pop-up park period
- must supply a public liability insurance certificate of currency
- agree that any images taken of their performance may be used to in our promotions and reporting.
