Tender Description

The Indigo Program is seeking the services of four (4) experienced Solution Architects to support the Modernisation Program Delivery team.

(Note to Sellers: All four (4) Solution Architect positions hold the same responsibilities, as outlined in this opportunity)

Purpose of the role

The Indigo Program is a broad program of work within the AEC translating business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change with a specific emphasis on the modernisation of business capabilities supported by legacy ICT systems. The program has the responsibility of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of ICT solutions through the identification and replacement of legacy components and the reduction of technical duplication, complexity and inefficiency.

The Solution Architect is expected to have a strong understanding of ICT architecture in government, and a background in solution architecture in large and complex projects is essential. The Solution Architect is responsible for undertaking technically complex work, under limited direction, utilising expertise in architecture development methods, systems analysis and design. The Solution Architect will be responsible for documenting and/or designing current-state and target-state solutions that help drive the modernisation agenda of the AEC. This role will work closely with enterprise architects, business analysts, procurement specialists, ICT, security and vendors to shape and inform the direction of ICT modernisation activities. The Solution Architect will be expected to develop a firm understanding of the holistic business current-state and desired outcomes, working with business Subject Matter Experts (SME) for domain expertise. As such the ability to identify, shape and describe opportunities for technological innovation within the context of business outcomes and business problems will be essential.

The Solution Architect will need to engage and communicate widely across the key stakeholders groups, including business SME, ICT, security, vendors and Federal Government departments managing whole-of-government initiatives. As such, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.

The Solution Architect reports to the Director Technical Assurance and will be required to integrate with a cross-functional program team who have an innovative, enjoyable and productive culture.

This role is different. We are looking for solution architects who have a desire to define and deliver real outcomes, are comfortable working with ambiguity and are not held hostage by methodology. We are looking for people who want to have an impact and contribute to a program that is making real change. We need people to contribute to our culture and who are committed to making the program a great place to work. We expect to challenge our recruits with new thinking and to be challenged ourselves.

Success for this role will rely on the individual’s ability to deliver in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment, a good cultural fit and an ability to challenge and drive thinking in new directions. Demonstrated experience delivering solutions in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

• Enterprise Service Management
• Payroll and recruitment
• Business process automation and low-code platforms
• Identity and access management

Key position responsibilities

• Undertake compliance assessments of proposed designs and/or technology solutions to ensure alignment with the Program architecture principles and standards.
• Provide analysis and judgement on complex issues and make significant contribution to the management, preparation and coordination of Program deliverables.
