Street Performers Program

⁠⁠⁠The City of Stonnington welcomes a new and exciting street performers program, working to put life and vibrancy back into our shared streets. This pilot program will play an important role in revitalising our public realm, providing the opportunity for performers to contribute to the character and culture of our precincts.

Every weekend for eight weeks, street performers will showcase their talents across some of our busiest main streets, encouraging the community back into the city and supporting our local economy.

Just as our favourite pop-up bars and eateries have extended into the streets, so too will our street performers - entertaining, exciting and inspiring our local community.

All applications will be assessed by City of Stonnington representatives from Events, Arts & Culture, Economic Development and Youth Services alongside special guest selection panelist Ludwig Schukin from the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA). Ludwig joins us with over 30 years of experience within the international and Australian circus industry.

Street performers guidelines
Street performers eligible for a busking permit can include:

• musical performers
• singers
• comedy
• magic
• dance
• juggling
• mime
• puppeteering
• living statue artists
• street theatrics and performance artists.

If you would like to help us turn our streets into your stage, please see below details and complete an application as soon as possible.

Applications will close 20 March 2021.

Successful applicants will be notified by 23 March 2021.

Performers under the age of 16 years can still apply. You will need parent or guardian consent and signature, which you can submit through the form below.

Dates:

Every weekend for 8 weeks from 27 March until 16 May 2021.

Times:

Two hour allocated sessions, including breaks. Please indicate preferred dates, sets times and locations on application form.

Payment for performers:

$200 plus busking permissible.

• Corner of Stanhope Street and Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
• Corner of Llanest Street and Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
• Sezanas On Toorak 428 Toorak Rd, Toorak.
• Corner Claremont Street and Toorak Road, South Yarra.
• 1139 High Street, Armadale.

Permits:

Free for the duration of the pilot program.
