Expressions of interest are now open for a new project with the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC. The project is being undertaken for the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Victoria (DELWP) and seeks to review DELWP's approach to assessing the effectiveness of fuel management and make recommendations to ensure it is an effective and statewide comparable method of assessing fuel hazards and consequently evaluation of fuel treatment objectives.

This project will recommend options for improvement or change to the current Overall Fuel Hazard approach and make recommendations for the establishment of a 'regional performance measure' of fuel management outcomes. The research will also recommend methods to be used for monitoring fuel management that are appropriate now and in the long-term, including any suggestions for how to phase from the current approach (if required). The research is due to be completed by 30 June 2021.
