IT Network Hardware Replacement

⁠⁠⁠Edith Cowan University (ECU) is seeking Expressions of Interest from potential hardware suppliers for the provision of a wireless and wired information technology network for its Joondalup and South West campuses. ECU is interested in reviewing options for either single-vendor or multi-vendor technology solutions. ECU requests Respondents to respond to whichever category of hardware or service they can provide. Responses to multiple or all categories are requested where the Respondent proposes to provide multiple categories to ECU.

• Category 1 – Wired Distribution and Access/Edge Network (Wired)
• Category 2 – Wireless Controller and Access/Edge Network (Wireless)
• Category 3 – Core and Perimeter Wired Network (Core and Perimeter)
• Category 4 – Wired and Wireless Network Management (Network Management)

ECU requests hardware manufacturers to respond to this EOI and nominate a primary and secondary partner to provide the installation services.

The core objectives of the EOI are:

to review the current technologies available in the market with the view to redesign, replace and improve ECU’s wired and wireless university data network; and
to shortlist suppliers to participate in a full RFP anticipated to be released in mid-2021.
Priorities as part of ECU’s network replacement program are to:

• Extend Wi-Fi coverage to external campus spaces and within buildings to reduce the wired network footprint;
• Enable greater end-to-end network visibility;
• Support fine grain controls to isolate and segment the network;
• Support multi-vendor technology solutions; and
• Embrace Network Automation of repetitive tasks.

ECU is also looking to review additional value-adds as part of the delivery of the EOI core objectives.
