The indicative project scope involves the investigation, development, design and construction of:

• Approximately 14 kilometres of four lane dual carriageway;
• Upgrade of intersection at Thomas Road/Tonkin Highway;
• New intersections to be constructed at Orton Road, Mundijong Road and South Western Highway;
• New grade separated interchange to be constructed at Bishop Road;
• Bridges over the existing freight rail line and Perth to Bunbury passenger rail line and Wright Road;
• A shared use path along the eastern side of the Tonkin Highway corridor, with planned connections to local path networks;
• An equestrian and pedestrian / cyclist underpass under Tonkin Highway at Abernethy Road; and
• Associated service roads and modifications to local government roads and intersections.

The works will be delivered as an Alliance contract.

Preference will be given to consortia with one or more Tier 2 or Tier 3 prequalified construction contractors included in the Alliance as a Non-Owner Participant and represented at an Alliance Board level.

The Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016 (Building Code) applies to the building work associated with this project.  By submitting an expression of interest in, or tender for, this project, you will become subject to the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work 2016.  Refer to the Building Code at employment.gov.au/building-code for further information.

It is a requirement of this project that any persons contracted to undertake the building work be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme established by the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2016, at the time of the EOI closing for the building work and while the building work is being carried out.

Tenderers intending to submit a bid as a Joint Venture must review the additional requirements as outlined by Section 26(1)(f) of the Fair Work (Building Industry – Accreditation Scheme) Regulation 2016 by the Federal Safety Commission (located at http://www.fsc.gov.au).
