Provision of Rural Water Meter Telemetry Equipment and Data Services

⁠⁠⁠Southern Rural Water operate 3 irrigation districts and manage the licensing of surface water and ground water across our region (southern third of Victoria). Surface water and Groundwater extraction sites number approximately 5,000 rural water meters of various sizes and types.

A staged program to automate the meter reading of a large proportion of these has been underway for approximately 5 years. Stage 3 (final stage) of the program consists of approximately 1,750 sites where telemetry is required to be installed. This tender request is for supply only of the telemetry devices for each meter, the associated radio network to collect the data and the management/transfer of data to Southern Rural Water in a form that is acceptable.

Telemetry devices must be capable of attaching to the listed meter types.

No specification for type of system is mandated, however the costs of each system component must be detailed in the tender response on a capital purchase and or per annum basis.

Data collection networks must detail range of both the base station collecting the data and the devices used at meter sites.

One way communication (device to host) is mandatory, however consideration will be given to systems that allow two way communication.
