Tender Description

The Barwon River is one of Geelong’s greatest natural assets, being a key to the city’s early development and an integral part of community life. Over the recent past an environment has been created for community activities, including rowing, water skiing, canoeing and fishing, and the network of access trails attracts many cyclists, walkers and joggers. The many picturesque and well-serviced picnic locations are enjoyed by Geelong and district residents and visitors alike.

The CCMA is responsible for managing a 20-kilometre reach of the river through Geelong, including various river reserves, from Orana Road in Highton at the upstream end, through to the lower breakwater (just upstream of Lake Connewarre). This includes the maintenance and enhancement of the riverbanks and various adjacent reserves as well as providing associated services and facilities.

This tender relates to the management of the land area and the river reach that is the responsibility of the CCMA. The works and services required include various tasks associted with the management of land reserves alongside and within the Barwon River through Geelong.

The specific works and services required are detailed in the Specification under the following categories:

  1. Grass cutting
  2. Rubbish removal
  3. Weed control
  4. Re-vegetation
  5. Maintenance and minor works
  6. Routine hazard and maintenance inspections
  7. Arboriculture work
  8. Annual inspection program for listed assets
  9. Construction or project management of Capital Works
  10. Contract management


The term of the Contract is for an initial period of three (3) years, with an option to extend the term for a further two (2) years, in one-year increments, resulting in a potential total Contract period of up to 5 years.
