Tender Description
Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports. PN owns and maintains the Cairns Main Wharves 1-5. The wharves are over 100 years old and are heritage listed. The wharves consist of reinforced concrete decks, primary beams, secondary beams and piles. PN undertakes regular maintenance of wharves 1-5. The FY21 maintenance plan is to undertake a silane application to the wharves and undertake crack repair treatments. The aim of these works is to increase the durability of the structure.
In general terms the works consist of:
• Application of silane to approximately 9,600m2 of deck surface (Principal supplied materials)
• Application of silane to approximately 30,000m2 of wharf soffit surface (Principal supplied materials)
• Crack injection repairs to approximately 380 lineal meters of cracks
• Crack injection to approximately 500 lineal meters of concrete adjacent to railway tracks
• Crack repairs to approximately 40 lineal meters of fine cracks
• Crack repairs to approximately 500 lineal meters of soffit cracks
PN requests Tender Submissions from suitably qualified Marine Contractors with appropriate experience in the application of silane and the treatment of cracks for the provision of these works. Works are to be performed on an operational wharf and will include the provisions of appropriate access and environmental controls in the tidal zone
