This procurement will help establish the Ministry’s Jobs for Nature environmental impact evaluation programme of work. We need to assess riparian planting survival on pilot sites from past funded projects.
The work will require classification of riparian plants at each site using multiple types of remote sensing data (including imagery) in order to determine the level of accuracy and precision that is possible using specific types of remote sensing data.
The Ministry is looking for suppliers who can clearly demonstrate their track record in delivery of projects with significant imagery and remote sensing data classification components, particularly specific to riparian, lake, and wetlands vegetation, as well as experience comparing suitability of imagery and remote sensing data inputs for classification purposes. Suppliers must also have experience in sourcing such imagery and remote sensing data from publicly available datasets or acquiring it themselves or through commercial entities.
This procurement relates to the delivery of Jobs for Nature impact evaluation. In short, the work will fieldtest and apply novel methods for plant survival assessment using aerial and satellite imagery and remote sensing data analysis1.
The Ministry has a budget of $100,000 work described in Section 2.3 of this ROI.
Depending on resource requirements and future budget availability, we may also seek to incorporate analysis of survival of trees that are space planted for erosion control at a future date.
